Ahhh…Spring Break!
A time for sun, sand, surf…
…for many people, but not for us! Unlike most people heading south, we head north to visit family. Therefore, we have had a Spring Break with cool temps, snow showers and lots of mud.
It’s been great!
I even got to complete an unexpected project. In crashing at my in-laws, we temporarily displaced my niece who lives in the basement suite. As a token of our appreciation, we decided to get her a dresser. (Twenty-year-old beauties with a great sense of fashion always need an extra dresser.)
I perused the local Craigslist and found this “beauty”…
I thought it was cute and would be a simple cosmetic fix.
Famous last words!
Aaron had to repair the tracks on the bottom drawers, and my dad did some gluing on one that had a split side. The previous painter hadn’t been super careful about drips, and the paint was pretty gummy. The hardware was hideous, and there was a weird plastic laminate faux wood sheet on the top.
Chalk paint to the rescue! Wanting to complete in a two-day window, I had to take some short cuts in the prep work. I had planned to put some French typography across the top, but didn’t have the time to make that happen. I opted for a crown, because Dominique has always wanted to be a princess! It’s a little more juvenile looking than I wanted, but it’s cute.
Here’s the final product..
This is adorable and I’m sure she loved it! Great job!!
