Today I started prepping for my sister’s visit this coming weekend. She’s headed down from NYC to attend a natural products show in Baltimore. Because we live close to 6 hours away from our families, we love having guests!
Our weekend will be crazy busy with soccer, soccer and more soccer, so I want to get some easy make ahead meals put together in the next few days. Of course, we’re going to need a little dessert, too! That’s where I’m starting.
I have some frozen berries ready to thaw, but I need some pie crust to make tarts in a pinch. And, no one has better crust recipes than Martha Stewart. Honestly, I aspire to be like Martha – not the going to jail Martha, mind you. I’d just like to be the Queen of Homemaking mogul Martha.
I selected a recipe for pate brisee from this book…
Martha basically makes it idiot proof with a step by step photo tutorial.
I followed all of Martha’s steps including chilling all the ingredients, including the dry ingredients.
I used a food processor (as Martha recommended) and mixed it according to her carefully worded instructions. Here is the final result.
I just hope I can wait until the weekend to make them. Martha would be proud! (At least I hope she would be. Martha is a tough cookie!)
