Welcome to the journey!

I promised myself that I’d start this blog a month ago, but life got in the way…no, wait!  I got in the way!  You see, for the first time in a long time, my life isn’t mapped out.  Sounds pretty scary, right?  Well, it is ……… and it isn’t.

Confused, yet?  Let me give you a brief history.  I have been an educator for the last 20 years in private school education. Along the way, I have been fortunate to work with some pretty amazing co-workers, teach some pretty awesome students and form relationships with some pretty incredible parents and guardians.  Last year, right about this time, my co-workers and I found out that our small campus would not be building the new school that we had dreamed of, hoped for and prayed endlessly about.  It wasn’t really a surprise, nor was the later decision to close our doors permanently.  Our enrollment had been dwindling for several years due to the economy and the never ending battle we had with the county to build on our site.  Honestly, it wasn’t just that.  I truly believe that God had a new and different plan for each of us affected.  I just didn’t think His plan for me was to be unemployed!

Yes, there was an offer of a job that would have been an easy fix.  I just didn’t have any peace about it.  There have also been several interviews in the last few weeks, but nothing has come to fruition.  My husband is a youth pastor and school chaplain and I have three teenage guys, one of whom will be heading to college within the next year.  Finances are tight to say the least!

So, here I am earnestly seeking God’s plan for me.  I hope you’ll join me as I try out some of the things I haven’t had time for in the past – creating, cooking, crafting.  I’ve decided – it’s time to focus on the journey, not the destination!
